SUBARU... Let me start off by saying; that I will probably never buy another Auto makers vehicle again. I have owned 4 Subaru vehicles in the past 6 years and I currently still 3. I just ran out of room. No Luxury in these line of vehicles. There are no cup holders that warm/cool, no shiny chrome trimmings, no auto rain sensing wipers... BUT, this Impreza and every other Subaru driven fulfills me to newest heights. The Impreza pulls off (wet or dry) and does not slip even in light snow. Cornering in this vehicle is light and forgiving with moderate speeds. The race like bolstered seats keeps your body planted firmly, allowing you to concentrate on the next and not trying to wiggle back into neutral position in the middle of a turn. A/C both Cool and Warm never fails and probably the coldest next to luxury vehicles. Comfort level of shock dampening is very forgiving even with heavy loads. Seats are firm, however, even after a long trip leave you feeling.... yes they leave you with feeling. Most seats after 4-6 hrs of driving numb you to the bone, not the Impreza. Gas mileage is great considering the weight and available power of an AWD vehicle. Quality of life is no other. I have 2 Impreza currently with 304,020 miles and 201,446 miles. Original hard parts, motor/tranny. You can never be disapointed with these vehicles... ever.. I promise. I have driven up hill in 4-6 " NY city snow around a BMW Xi, a Town Car and Lexus GS 400, driving literally around each vehicle. It was like a movie and wish I could of taped it. GET ONE!!!! 2002 Subaru Impreza: Very Fun Driver's Car I had a 2002 WRX. Bought it used with 30k miles on it and sold it with 105k miles. This was a very fun car to drive around. It's quick and has a lot of grip for curvy roads.
With snow tires on, in addition to the AWD, this thing is unstoppable in the snow. Keep the RPMs below 3k and it'll go exactly where you point it. Floor it, and you will find yourself in a fun, controlled slide through the snow.
Subaru's reliability is excellent. I never had any real problems besides basic maintainence things.
The only thing I thought could be improved was the transmission. I got a Kartboy short throw shifter (which is excellent) and that made the car a lot of fun to drive. However, getting it into first gear could only be done at very low speeds and that would always require me to double-clutch. Reverse would occassionally grind as well even if the clutch was pushed down all the way. Despite those issues, I never had any problems with it. When I sold the car, it was still on the original clutch and still had a lot of life left in it. Source: eBay Motors Reviews |

I bought this care because I was prepared to take out the engine and put in a a new one. It turns out the hydraulic timing belt tensioner went bad and had to be replaced. After replacing it she started up just fine. Smooth ride, great acceleration, awesome design, and the most accessible engine ever built for under $3000? That's a great deal. It has 135,600 miles on it so this should last me for a good long while. I will only buy subaru now, they're great cars. Source: eBay Motors Reviews |
