Okay, the rating seems fairly dim, but I am in love with this tiny little car. The day it was delivered, it did not start because the delivery guy didn't know how. Got it started and it overheated in about three minutes, not really an overheat problem. It's a "bought a car from Florida in winter and had it shipped North" problem. There was poor freeze protection in the cooling system so a housing cracked while in transit. So the drive home I could wait to do was changed to a tow home. My car has a power roof that opened in fabulous fashion, just won't close now. The button was unresponsive then broke, it didn't bother me that the button broke, the roof already broke, so the button doesn't matter. It sounds bad and it is worse than that, I chuckle.
So, am I worried, NO. I have a repair guy and before I bought it I knew that there was things I wanted anyway. If I was going to put my children in this car it would be up to my standards. On a good note, just about everything can replaced or repaired on these cars. The crucial point is to have your mechanic ready to go, before you purchase. I also recommend an inspection. My standards would not define this car as "great running condition" as stated in the ebay listing. So the car needs work, it gets you person time with your car.

It's a neat little car and no matter all the problems, everyone likes it. Everyone smiles when they see it. To give people happiness is priceless!

Great little car. Handles like no other little car can. My Mini with its 998cc engine can keep up with traffic real well in the city. On the highway it takes a moment to get up to speed but holds it well. My Mini was well below 4000 rpm when costing at 70mph. I think that great for a 4 speed. The handling is stiff because of the rubber cone suspension. It leads to a bumpy ride if there is holes in the road. But that makes it more fun to drive.

This car will get attention everywhere you go. People will walk up to you and ask you about the mini.

As for reliability. it seams to be about the same as all my other cars. My father got it home alright. Then the car sat for several months while I was in Iraq. When I finally got to drive it. It was great ! ! Then the float assembly messed up and I had to but a new one. But the good thing is that the car is vary simple to work on. Im not a mechanic, I have my repair manuel and some past experiences and I seem to be doing well. The carbs on these cars a simple to work on. Everything is mechanical on these cars also, including the fuel pump.(Unless you get a fuel injected model) So the only electronics are your lights and stereo.

The parts are hard to find in local shops. So your best bet is to hit up online stores and keeping some of the general parts needed for manetince on hand. (like oil filters) But Mini Mania (minimania.com) is a US based site that carries parts for your mini.(like tires) And Mini Spares (minispares.com) is a UK site that has more parts incase you couldnt find it on mini mainia; but takes longer for shipping.

As for fitting into this car. Im 6'2" and I fit in it alright now. I bought some seat brackets that drops the seat back several inches. It help my leg room problem a lot. The only downside is no one is able to fit into the backseat at all. But I wasn't expecting to. I can ride around with two people up front and get about 35-40 mpg.

Be sure that you actually know the REAL year of your car. I believe that my mini is a Re-vin. All of my mini's components reflect a 1986-1989 model year. But has a 1971 vin number. Ask the seller, It may help with some headache when it comes time to order parts.
