I would call this car the poor-man's BMW. The driving position, ride, and handling are all excellent. The car provides a firm ride but not harsh. Could probably use stiffer roll control, but other than that it's the best balance for a a daily driver.
The clutch is a little tricky to modulate smoothly, but gets better with practice.
The 4 cylinder could use about 25 more horsepower (can't they all?), but it is willing to rev and pulls well from 3000 rpm up without harsh vibration. The gas mileage return is great for the class of car and the range is tremendous.
The seats are comfortable, the rear legroom could be a little better. The fabric shows wear a little too soon and the center console plastic scratches easily.
Watch the tires, the stock Michelen Pilots seem to wear a little quicker than one might like, probably about 40k usable tread life.

Fantastic car. Great performance and spacious interior. Sporty yet has room for a family, etc. Have a Mazda3 already, and both are fantastic cars. Mazda has definitely stepped it up a notch.
