I decided to drive the Santa Fe when I was looking at a medium sized SUV because Consumer Reports really liked it. Well, as it turns out, so did I! I have the limited trim, which is very luxurious. Leather seats, extra 3rd row of seats, 6 CD changer, 18" tires, tons of airbags etc etc. I also have the DVD player, which has plugs you can attach a game system to right on the backside of the front seat console. This way, on long trips, we can play DVDs or my son can hook up his game system and play Playstation or Game Cube, that kind of thing. On the Toyota Highlander, which I was also considering, they could install a similar system, but the plugs would be on the ceiling with the DVD screen. There would be wires hanging down if we decided to hook up a game system. There was no way to avoid that. The Santa Fe with all of this extra stuff was under 32K, very good value.
Acceleration is very nice and the ride is comfy as well. The car handles beautifully and looks great. the only thing that disappoints me at all, is the gas milage. I do mostly in-city driving and I get about 17mpg. The Santa Fe is not available in a Hybrid or that would have suited me to a T. Take a drive if you are considering this size/price range. It's a great car.
