I bought my 1994 Dodge Shadow 3.0 for $3,300 in 2001 with 91,000 miles on the odometer. The car now has 160,000 miles on it and it hasn't given me a lick of a problem. I sold a 88 Corvette convertible because the Shadow has outstanding performance and it's really a thrill to drive. I hope to continue driving this little jewel for another 160,000 miles. It's one reliable vehicle.

This was a limited model breakoff from the 2.5 liter Dodge Shadow, this model is notorious for the lack of specifications put into it, when it was built. The transmission in this model lacks the integrity of its counterparts, it is very often the first thing to go on this make/model of vehicle. Then there are the glitches that go along with the making of this model, you fix one problem, and it is never completely fixed, many owners of this vehicle will share with you the frustrations of ownership. Not major problems, just small frustrating ones. I have owned mine for four months now, second owner, and one month after sale at only 56,000 original miles - the reverse went out, and that is when a mechanic shared with me the facts and figures pertaining to the transmission issues, other than that, the only other issue that I have had, is that I need to put extra weight in the back, during the winter months (for traction), but overall, it is a nice little sporty car, lacking nothing - if you have a good imagination.

The 1988 Dodge Shadow ES is a wonderful car. Everything from the 2.2 turbo-powered engine to the sleek styling of the body is what makes the Shadow an excellent car. The engine has more than enough power to leave a Civic setting behind in a cloud of smoke. The design of the car will make anyone take a second, third, and forth look. All this and you don't even have to pay an arm and a leg to afford one. We owned a 1988 Dodge Shadow ES for 17 years and it never let us down one time. It was sporty, fun to drive, and reliable. If I had the chance to own another one, I definitely would not hesitate to buy. The combination of power, speed, styling, and handling are the reasons why the 1988 Dodge Shadow ES deserves a place in the Mopar Hall of Fame.
