Seller claimed it was a clean title. Ebay's auto check wasn't accurate. Once we checked with Car Fax, we found out about accident and ordered a copy of the accident report. Then contacted previous owner..found out it was in HORRIBLE accident and totalled. We also suspected that the air bags had been illegally stuffed b/c they were "mushy". Truck, altho seller claimed it had been professionally inspected, had dangling wires, broken parts, welded frame, etc. Seller would only refund us if we agreed not to tell Ebay or contact authorities. We were still out $600 shipping. They promised they would also leave us positive feedback which they didn't do. Also note that they have relisted the truck and are still claiming that it has a clean title and in good working order, etc. (even tho they are fully aware of the accident and were given the accident report #) Source: eBay Motors Reviews |

This is my 2nd automobile purchase on Ebay. At first I was somewhat concerned about buying without seeing and driving the trucks. I do not and will not buy from a dealer. I know they have to make money off of somebody- just not me. In both my truck purchases I got exactly the truck I wanted and at a price that was far below market value. When dealing with a private seller you often find someone who has already bought a new car and has the older vehicle just sitting, so whatever he gets out of it is better than leaving it in the driveway to rot. Both my sellers were very honest in telling me both what work had been done on the vehicle and what it needed done. Here's my ideas on how to buy: 1. Look at the sellers feedback. Send him an email. Talk to him on the phone. Every used car has something not perfect. It may be a scratch or a parking lot ding or it may be a noise that the car makes once in a while. What you want to fins is a seller that being absolutely honest to a fault. What you don't want is someone telling you it's 100% perfect. 2. Run a carfax on the vehicle. It will cost a few dollars but is well worth it 3. Look up the NADA or blue book value for the car. Make up your mind as to what is the maximum $ you want to spend for the vehicle. 4. Watch the item in My Ebay 5. As the bidding goes on look at who you are bidding against. Be especially careful about 0 or low feedback bidders. There are a lot of people that are just bidding for fun- they have no intention of actually buying. If you pull up their items bid on you can find 0 feedback bidders that have placed bids on 50+ vehicles. The problem actually seems to effect all of Ebay but is more prevalent on vehicles and other high $ purchases. I guess that if you are just playing a game, that winning a $50,000 Hummer has more value than a $10 computer part. You don't want to get into a bidding war with somebody that is using monopoly money. 6. If the bidding goes above what you already decided was the max you wanted to pay, then delete the item and go on to the next 7. If the auction is still below what you decided was the max price, wait till 10 seconds before the auction ends and place your bid. The "snipe" bidding will insure that you don't get drawn into a bidding war. If you get the vehicle for your price great. If you get outbid then that's life. Again the key is getting to know the seller and deciding on a maximum bid Source: eBay Motors Reviews |
