Most popular Chevrolet Tracker for sale

When I went looking for a small SUV I had 3 main things it needed to be able to do. Be foul weather/off road capable. Be able to be towed behind my small RV when necessary, and get reasonably decent gas milage.

I was surprised when I went to sites like Consumer Reports, Edmunds, KBB and the like, at how badly they slammed the Tracker. Especially since the test drives that I went on didn't seem to show anything close to what they were saying. They called it underpowered, poorly built and crappy.

Power from the V6 is peppy and fairly quick. I drove the Rav 4, Kia Sportage and Suzuki SX4 and the V6 Tracker seemed the most lively of the bunch. Passenger room is about equal to the Rav 4 and Sportage, but the cargo space is significantly better in the Tracker. Gas milage was perhaps the one spot where the Tracker didn't do as well as I thought it would. 18/22 is ok, but not great. But that was about the same as the Rav 4 and Sportage.

But here's the kicker. None of the other tiny SUVs can be towed. Not one. Only the Tracker can be towed. If you want another towable SUV you have to go a half step up to the CRV/Liberty/Escape realm. But since they weigh about 600 lbs more than the Tracker, it wasn't really an option for my small RV.

All in all I find the Tracker to be a great little SUV, especially for the price. I bought the LT version which means leather and the side panels that help with door dings. No, it's not a Lexus, but it is a very capable car that can do an awful lot of things. 55,000 miles later and I'm completely happy.

We purchased this vehicle for our daughter....little did we know what the Downside of this vehicle was. I had reviewed others' comments on this vehicle, but none really told it like it was. So here is the real scoop...This vehicle is rear wheel drive when it isn't in 4 wheel peel, now that may not be a huge problem for southern states, but up here where winter rains 7 months out of the year..its huge. Rear wheel drive isn't at all suitable in winter weather...period. The 4 wheel drive doesn't dis-engage smoothly, you have to stop, put it in reverse, drive 10'..and then it drops out of 4 wheel..been told that by many mechanics...and it was true..of course after we purchased it. Another issue....its center of gravity...it is not stable and prone to roll overs...its top heavy and short wheel based...another issue...and crashes...forget about it...even small crashes will render this vehicle as Totalled... The long and short of this...my daughter had the vehicle 3 weeks before she accidently drove it in rear wheel drive while coming home from a friends house less than a mile away...she lost control, went off the road and side swiped a tree....it didn't look bad when we got there...thanks GOD she was okay....but the car was totalled...the frame was bent so bad that it was totalled. So, if you are looking to purchase this type of vehicle....trust me....look at other vehicles...Its no accident that this vehicle isn't being produced any more!!!

This is a very nice little SUV. It gets 30 mpg. The interior is like new. The only thing that shows weathering are the bumpers. For a vehicle from North Carolina it is in great shape, no rust, etc. Very happy with this Tracker. It handles well in the wind and being in Kansas that means a lot.
